Mark Essary

Mark Anthony Essary, 66, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at his home in Edmond. He was born September 9, 1955, in Sulphur, to Robert F. and Melva (Gatlin) Essary.

Mark graduated from Sulphur High School and attended Central State University (now known as the University of Central Oklahoma). Mark graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology.

Mark always loved animals, but dogs were his favorite. For decades, Mark was heavily involved in various AKC dog shows. He was also a breeder of Bullmastiffs. In 1998, Mark decided to take his love of dogs and his knowledge of animals and people and turn those into a business. He started his own company called Pet Pointe! He, and his sons, worked at Pet Pointe until Mark sold the company and retired in 2011.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Melva Essary, and his uncle, James Essary.

Mark is survived by his spouse, Julie Ahrens; son, Mark and wife, Jeri; son, Nick and wife, Angie; father, Robert; brother, Tim and wife, Marti; grandchildren, Rhett, Ethan, Gavin, Kristin, Cooper, and Carter; two nieces; one nephew; additional family members; and friends. Visitation for Mark was held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, at Baggerley Funeral Home, 930 S. Broadway, Edmond, OK. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 20, at Baggerley Funeral Home in Edmond. Graveside services were 2:30 p.m., Monday, September 20, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur, OK.
