Martha Lynn Dooly

Martha Lynn Dooly was born March 11, 1939, in Wewoka, to the late Jess Lee and Evorah (Brackett) Dooly. She died Friday, Sept. 2, in Sulphur, at the age of 83. She and Ivar Melby were married on July 17, 2001, in Gainesville, TX. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2017.

Martha, known by many as “Mimi,” grew up in Wewoka, where she graduated high school. She married Jerald Williams in 1956 and from this union was born one daughter, Felicia Suzette. Martha moved from Wewoka to Boston. In the 1960’s, she moved to Sulphur, where she assisted with the family-owned dry-cleaning business and laundry.

Martha spent most of her life working as a hairdresser, which she always enjoyed. She also spent 13 years working at the Southern Oklahoma Resource Center in Pauls Valley, prior to retirement.

Survivors include her granddaughter and a great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by her daughter, Felicia Suzette Smith.

A private burial will be held at the Wewoka Cemetery.

Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
