Mary Alene (Conner) Sites completed her earthly journey on April 3, 2024, at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 10 days, in Sulphur. She was born on December 24, 1937, in Quinlan, Oklahoma, to her loving parents Holden Bryan and Margaret Iris (Gillespie) Conner.

Mary grew up amidst the landscapes of Major County, surrounded by her four brothers and two sisters. She pursued her education with dedication, attending high school in Seiling, graduating in 1956 as Salutatorian. After raising 6 children, she continued her academic journey at Murray State College in Tishomingo, and later earned her BA degree from East Central University in Ada. With a compassionate heart and a desire to serve, Mary became a registered nurse. She exemplified her dedication to duty by serving in the Army Reserve medical unit as a First Lieutenant during Operation Desert Storm based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Family was the cornerstone of Mary’s life. She was the proud mother of six children: Mike, Rickey, Debra, Kevin, David, and Laura.

On May 1, 1999, at historic Fort Belknap near Newcastle, Texas, Mary found love again when she was united in marriage to Bill Sites. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, exploring destinations near and far, including three memorable visits to Alaska.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Holden Bryan and Margaret Iris Conner; her husbands, Carol Johnson and Kenneth Pannell; her step-son, Mike Pannell; her sister, Marjorie; brothers, Lyle, Doyle, Loren and Don, and other cherished loved ones.

Mary will be remembered fondly by her husband, Bill Sites; her children, Rickey Johnson and his wife Susan of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Debra Primavera of Sulphur, Kevin Pannell and his wife Anna of Wellston,David Pannell and his wife Roxanne of Midwest City, and Laura Schaeffer and her husband Paul of Richardson, Texas. Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, embraced by 29 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. In addition to her immediate family, Mary’s memory will be cherished by her sister Roseanna Langston of Woodward, and, numerous other relatives and friends.

Mary Alene Sites will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to have known her.
