Mary Lee Sansom

The Lord called Mary Lee Sansom (Mayton), 76, home on Friday, December 2, 2022. She passed peacefully at her home in Denison, TX , surrounded by family and her two beloved pups, Lovey and Little Bit.

Mary Lee was born May 19, 1946 in Denison, Texas, the daughter of Velma May and Andrew Jackson Mayton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnny Mac Sansom; sons, MarkAnthony Tucker, Kevin Ray Tucker, and Jason Lloyd Looney; and brothers, Jackie Mayton and Jerry Mayton.

She is survived by John Jette, her partner and best friend; her daughter, Rhonda Kowald and husband, Will of Carrollton, TX; her son, David Sampson and wife, Julie of Trinidad CO; step-daughter, Renee Briscoe and husband, Geromy of Oklahoma City; her brothers, John Stogner of Dension, Gene Stogner of Denison, and Ronnie Lukes of Woodward; seven grandchildren, Lindsey, Taylor, Tyler, Reagan, Katelyn, Dylan, and Claire; and three great-grandchildren, Reid, Inna, and Isaac.

Mary was originally born in Denison, TX but she lived much of her adult life in Sulphur, a town she loved and called home for over 40 years. Mary worked for many years as a waitress and raised her children in Sulphur. No matter where she went, Mary was very outgoing and accepting, and she had many close friendships throughout her life.

Family and friends were most important to Mary, and all are welcome to a celebration of her life at Park Avenue Church of Christ, 3000 Park Avenue, Denison, TX on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Please join us to gather and remember the life and legacy of this beloved woman.
