Rachel (LaNoy) Dickinson

Funeral services for Rachel (LaNoy) Dickinson will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, , at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Davis, with Chaplain John Mark Fowler officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Rachel was born October 20, 1932, in Coalgate, to the late Henry and Gertrude (Jones) LaNoy. She died Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, in Davis, at the age of 89 years and 12 days. Rachel and Alton Obe Dickinson were married on June 28, 1949, in Gainesville, TX. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1965.

The LaNoy family moved from Coalgate to the Woodland area, west of Davis, in the late 1930’s, where Rachel grew up. Throughout most of her adult life, Rachel worked as a private caregiver for numerous individuals in the Davis area.

In her spare time, Rachel enjoyed studying the Bible, working puzzle books, and making all the area garage sales. She was a devoted member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Davis. In younger years, Rachel was active with the local Eastern Star and the American Legion organizations.

Survivors include one daughter, Twila Lavern (Dickinson) Moody and husband, Allen of Grandview, MO; one son, Lyndell Gordon Dickinson of Davis; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one brother, Billie LaNoy of Davis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was preceded in death by one son, Hugh Randall Dickinson; one grandson, Jimmie Lynn Dickinson; one sister, Ruby Holt; and one brother, Clarance LaNoy.

Serving as pallbearers will be Alton Dickinson, Joseph Ellett, Blain Ahgoom and Caden Ellett.

Services are entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home, Davis.
