Reba Sue McDonald

Reba Sue (Payne) McDonald, better known as Sue, was born September 15, 1941, in Mill Creek, to the late Murray Mack and Alma Novell (James) Payne. She passed away on Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, in Sulphur, at the age of 81. Sue and Keith McDonald were united in marriage on November 27, 1959, at the Mill Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church. He preceded her in death on June 10, 2008.

Sue grew up in Mill Creek, prior to her family moving to Sulphur in the mid 1950’s. She was a 1959 graduate of Sulphur High School. Once married, Sue devoted her life to raising her five children, as well as many other children in the community. Later in life, she worked as a paraprofessional for the Sulphur Public School System. She was affectionately referred to as “Sue-Sue” by many of the children she babysat throughout the years.

Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Any time spent with her family she counted as blessings. In her spare time, she enjoyed working puzzles, crocheting, sewing, playing games on her iPad, fishing and trying her luck at area casinos. In younger years, Sue enjoyed traveling with her family and friends.

Survivors include her son, Bryan McDonald and wife, Lisa of Sulphur; four daughters, Tisha Thornhill and husband, Mike of Sulphur, Sheila McClure and husband, Jim of Sulphur, Kim Roberts and husband, Randy of Russellville, KY, and Kristi Felts and husband, Justin of Mill Creek; 17 grandchildren, Drew McDonald, Branden McDonald, Rebekah Tokatlilar, Hannah Thornhill, Nathan Thornhill, Darren Thornhill, Marah Thornhill, Michelle Hill, Jerrad Taylor, Zakaree Taylor, Derek Roberts, Daniel Roberts, Whitney Seeley, Bree Harmon, Tailyn Harmon, Cole Harmon, and Austin Felts; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Patsy Murdock; four brothers, Don Payne, Derrel Payne, Jerry Payne and wife, Kay, and Tom Payne and wife, Donna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was preceded in death by three grandchildren, William Keith Harmon, Cord Garrett Harmon, and Kelby Tyler Taylor.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at the Mill Creek Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Pastor Billy Harmon officiating. Interment followed at the Mill Creek Cemetery.
