Rita Myrlene Martin

Rita Myrlene Martin, of Checotah, was born May 10, 1957 in Roswell, New Mexico to Benjamin Franklin and Della Jane (Lee) Martin. She passed away on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023 in Muskogee, at the age of 65 years, eight months and 20 days.

Rita moved to Oklahoma in 1963. She had lived in Wynnewood and Pauls Valley at the State School before moving to Checotah when the school closed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings. She is survived by a sister, Mary Waits and her husband, Robert of Okmulgee; and brother, Jackie Martin and wife, Barbara of Mesquite, TX.

Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023 at the DeArman Funeral Chapel with Robert Waits officiating. Interment followed at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.
