Ronnie James Veach

Ronnie James Veach was born November 5, 1946, in Davis, to the late James T. and Ellen S. (Yancy) Veach. He died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 77. Ronnie and the former Ms. Betty Jean Cottrell were married on March 24, 1971, in Sulphur. From this union was born one son, Rodney.

Ronnie grew up in the Davis/Sulphur area. He joined the United States Army on November 23, 1968, and received an honorable discharge on November 1, 1974. After his service to our country, Ronnie moved to Oklahoma City, where he worked in property management and maintenance. In 1990, he and Betty returned to Davis and began working for the National Park Service in Sulphur, retiring in 1999.

Ronnie had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. In his spare time, he also enjoyed watching old western movies.

Survivors include one son, Rodney Veach and wife Rebekah of Davis; four grandchildren, Shianne, Nikki, Brock, and Gabriel; two sisters, Sylvia Williams, and Catherine Matthews; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife Betty on December 13, 2022; two sisters, Donna J. Blalock and Ruby Dickerson; and one brother, Bobby E. Veach.

Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, at the Hale’s Memorial Chapel, in Davis, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Blalock, Dusty Hunt, Terry Blalock, Richard Blalock, Brian Blalock, James Tillery and Bart Stover.
