Seth A. Hensley, III

Seth A. Hensley, III was born on October 16, 1950, in Overton, Texas to Rosemary (Ball) and Seth Hensley, II. He passed away on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, in Norman at the age of 73 years and two months.

Seth lived in several areas while growing up, and he graduated from Anadarko High School in 1969. He later attended Oklahoma State University. He had lived in Sulphur for the past 46 years.

He and Judy Runyan were married on March 25, 1978 in Sulphur.

Seth worked for Amoco Production Company before taking a job in the transportation department of the Sulphur Public Schools. He was also statistician for Sulphur football and basketball teams for many years and was a member of the Murray County Leadership Class V team.

Seth was a big-time OSU and Sulphur sports’ fan. He was a loyal member of the First FreeWill Baptist Church. Set never met a stranger.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hensley; daughter, Sara Claggett; grandchildren, Cade Thomas Claggett and Avery Grace Claggett; brothers-in-law, Jerry and Bonnie Runyan, Dewey and Mary Runyan, and Dale and Pat Runyan; sister-in-law, Linda Runyan; and step-sister, Susan Marchbanks.

Seth was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Melissa Hensley; and his step-mother, Dorothy Hensley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023, at the First FreeWill Baptist Church with Rev. Dick Terry officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Toby Todd, David Pyle, Keith Billings, Rendell Cole, Bryan Baumgardner and Jim Goodin.

Honorary bearers will be the Anadarko graduating class of 1969; Amoco co-workers; and Sulphur coaches, past and present.

Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
