Sheila Jane Day

Sheila Jane Day, of Roff, was born August 15, 1938 in DeKalb, Texas to Wendell and Cleo (Russell) Glass. She passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Roff, at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 4 days.

She married Richard Charles Day in Abilene, TX on March 24, 1986. She had worked as a lab technician. She graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA. in 1956 and attended Abilene Christian University for two years. Sheila attended NW Louisiana where she obtained her Lab Tech Degree. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Sheila was a kind, thoughtful, and loving constant in the family, hosting holidays and get-togethers, helping with ranch work, and lighting up while watching the babies grow throughout the years. She had many hobbies that included reading, setting out her Christmas village, watching Turner Classic Movies channel and Dallas Cowboys football games, and playing Bunco with her friends. Along with having a great sense of style, she was very creative and enjoyed making floral arrangements and cross-stitch samplers. Her family and loved ones most appreciated her wonderful baking and cooking abilities, with everyone requesting her to make their favorites and asking for her recipes.

Sheila is survived by her husband, Richard Day of Roff; two sisters, Judy (Jerry) Heard of Lindale, Texas; Cherry (Fred) Norman of Little Rock, Arkansas; and a brother, Wendell (Rhonda) Glass of Shreveport, LA; seven children, Russell (Callie Sue) Edwards of Charlotte, NC; Karen (Joey) Reid of Charlotte, NC; Deborah (Kyle) Vanderberg of Grand Junction, CO; Kenneth (Beth) Day of Abilene, Texas; Jacob Day of Abilene, Texas; Mariah (Elvan) Goode of Cross Plains, Texas; and Mary Ann (Jeff) Noel of Elgin. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m. on October 25 at Dexter, Cemetery in Dexter, Kansas, officiated by Alan Dale. Burial followed at under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur.
