Velma (Noland) Decker

Funeral services for Velma (Noland) Decker, 90, Oklahoma City, will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28, at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis.

Velma was born April 12, 1931, at Wynnewood View, to the late Walter Earl and Margaret (Hicks) Noland. She died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, in Oklahoma City.

Velma grew up in Davis, graduating from Davis High School, Class of 1949. After high school, she spent several years working as a local operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. On May 1, 1956, Velma married Aaron D Decker. In the early 1960’s, the couple settled in Oklahoma City where they raised their two children, Leisa and Alan.

Velma was continually active in her children’s lives growing up. She volunteered at school events, served as a volunteer school librarian, and did anything else she could to be involved in their lives. In earlier years, Velma taught Sunday School, enjoyed painting, and served as a past officer of the Oklahoma City Geological Wives Association.

Survivors include her husband, Aaron; son, Alan Decker and wife, Nema of Enid; twin sister, Delma “Billee” Coll of Davis; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Velma was preceded in death by her daughter, Leisa Roye; great-granddaughter, Kailee Tyler; and two brothers, Harry Keith Noland, and Earlon Noland.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 27, at the funeral home.
