Graveside services for Vernon Lee Brown, 81, Roff, were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 24, 2021 at East Hill Cemetery in Roff officiated by Pastor Steve Wilburn. Burial followed under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home.

Born March 11, 1940 in Fitzhugh, Oklahoma to Anna Marie (Webb) and Vernon (Buck) Brown, he passed away Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 in Roff, at the age of 81 years, 6 months and 10 days.

Vernon was a member of the last graduating class at Hickory High School in 1958 and was a member of Roff First Baptist Church. Early in his life, Vernon was a dairy/independent chicken farmer. He retired from Pauls Valley State School. Vernon loved to play and watch sports. He coached his son, Jimmy’s summer league baseball teams. He particularly enjoyed watching and traveling to his kids’ and grandkids’ ballgames. Vernon was named Roff Fan of the Year in 2008 and inducted into the Roff School Hall of Fame. Vernon was an avid gardener, and for years had a 6-acre truck patch. He enjoyed selling at the Farmers Market and Dog Trade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Brown and brother, Chock Brown.

He is survived by UnHui Brown, of Stratford; daughters, Jana Stewart and husband, Mike, of Roff, Liz Glover and husband, Derald, of Piedmont; five grandchildren, C J Stewart and wife, Jordan, J J Plunk and husband Clay, Jodi Jones and husband, Jerry, Allie Holman and husband, Nate Kayci Allen and husband, Trey; four great grandchildren, Jayla Plunk, Kelby Plunk, Calvin Stewart, Holland Holman; brother, Doug Brown and the mother of his children, Ellen Green.

Pallbearers were C J Stewart, Clay Plunk, Jerry Jones, Nate Holman, Trey Allen, and Steve Kile.
