Willie Katherine Mullings

Willie Katherine Mullings was born September 8, 1932, in Emet, OK, to the late William W. and Irene Francis (Gibson) Smith. She passed away on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 91 years. Katherine and Vurnie H. Mullings were married on July 19, 1947, in Sherman, TX. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1978.

The earlier years of Katherine’s life were spent living in the Tishomingo area, prior to the family moving to California.After a couple of moves back and forth between Oklahoma and California, she settled in Oklahoma in the early 1990’s. Katherine devoted her life to raising and caring for her 11 children.

Katherine, in her spare time, enjoyed fishing and trying her luck at area casinos. She loved babies and babies always seemed to love her. She also cherished spending time with her family.

Survivors include five daughters, Verna Hayter of Nice, CA, Patricia Hatfield of Locust Grove, Sandra Levingston and Peggy Sue Rico, both of Sulphur, and Jennie Marie James of Chouteau; three sons, Leslie Ray Mullings of Kelseyville, CA, and Bobby Joe Mullings and Raymond Glen Mullings, both of Locust Grove; 23 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Katherine was preceded in death by three children, Wesley Ray Mullings, Linda Kay Allen, and Teresa Lea Strange; three grandchildren, Brenda Gail Iverson, Jeremy Mullings, and Michael Augustus Bucy; as well as her three siblings, May Sargent, Viola Fuller, and Leroy Smith.

Katherine will be laid to rest at the Kelseyville Cemetery, in Kelseyville, CA.
