Court House Opens Up With Restrictions
Murray County Commissioners approved a measure at the regular weekly meeting on Monday to re-open public access to the Murray County Courthouse effective immediately. The board said each elected official can decide how best to accommodate visitors to their offices in compliance with social distancing and other state mandates.
The vote came in the wake of an Administrative Order issued by District Judge Wallace Coppedge to re-open courtrooms, court clerk’s and assistant district attorney’s offices and resume in-person court proceedings.
The order for court procedures does come with a list of restrictions including wearing masks or facial coverings. All persons shall also wear gloves, use hand sanitizer or wash hands frequently. This includes Judge’s, staff and attorneys. If anyone is scheduled to appear in court or has any reason to visit the Judge’s Office, Court Clerk’s Office or the District Attorney’s office, the individual should call prior to entering the courthouse for further instructions and information.
