Rain came pouring down in Sulphur during the early morning hours of Tuesday, causing minor flooding in low-lying areas of the city. Sulphur crews were out throughout the morning closing off low water areas and bridges, including this intersection at West 10th and Oklahoma St. Murray County was placed under a flood warning as of presstime Tuesday.
The heat is gone and the drought was broken Tuesday after a cold front spawned waves of rain throughout the area.
Streets in low-lying areas of the city and low water bridges in the Sulphur and the Park were closed off by mid-morning after several hours of heavy thunderstorms moved through with nearly four inches of rain falling by noon.
The National Weather Service placed Murray County under a flood warning throughout the morning with a moderate chance of flooding throughout the day and into Wednesday. Lesser chances of rain were forecast for Thursday and Friday.
