New Bridge Will Benefit Residents And Tourists Alike
Residents and visitors who use Buckhorn Road, located 5 miles south of Sulphur off of U.S. 177 In District 1, now have a new bridge over Dry Branch Creek.
A ribbon cutting was held last Wednesday morning to officially dedicate the six-year long project that began in 2013 with the bridge design.
The bridge is on a road traveled by many thousands of vehicles each year leading to the Arbuckle Lake.
According to Aaron Finley, the design engineer of the bridge, the original construction bid on the bridge was $984,789.18, however due to some cost reductions the final cost was at $950,000.00. The bridge was funded by state and federal funds at no cost to the county.
The contractor on the project was Wyatt Contracting, Inc.
