Remembering Our Heroes
There were two veterans’ activities that bookended the Memorial Day Weekend in Sulphur.
On Friday, May 24, residents from the Sulphur Veterans Center put out 431 flags in the two areas reserved for military veterans at Oaklawn Cemetery. On Saturday morning, American Legion Post 148 Legionnaires put more flags on veterans’ gravesites scattered throughout the rest of the cemetery. Finally, on Monday, May 27, the 4th annual Memorial Day observance was held at the Veterans Memorial Park on Broadway at W. 11th Street.
