SHS Seniors Honored With Academic, Athletic Awards

Thirty-five Sulphur High School seniors were honored Monday night in the school’s auditorium with a host of academic and athletic awards. The group, above, was honored in a combined assembly with several award presenters and Principal Clete Cole serving as the host for the evening. The awards normally are given out in separate assemblies, but due to COVID-19, they were combined into one event.

Despite a pandemic that caused major disruptions in their lives, Sulphur and OSD seniors’ long awaited milestone is near. Graduation Exercises Set This Week

Graduation exercises for 97 Sulphur seniors and 11 from Oklahoma School for the Deaf will be held this Friday and Saturday respectively, school officials have announced.

Park Beginning To Increase Access To Some Camping Areas

Sulphur, Okla. – Following guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities, Chickasaw National Recreation Area is increasing recreational access in accordance with Oklahoma’s “Open Up and Recover Safely” plan. The National Park Service (NPS) is working servicewide with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and using a phased approach to increase access on a park-by-park basis.
