More Remembrances, Additional Information Listed For Now Demolished SHS Auditorium

A new business in town was celebrated last Friday with a ribbon cutting/grand opening ceremony hosted by the Sulphur Chamber of Commerce.
This area’s scorching heat continued for a second straight week on Monday and Tuesday and little relief is in sight until Sunday, according to National Weather Service forecast.
Going, Going ..... Demolition Work Continues At School Demolition work at Sulphur High School continued for a second week last week as workers from K & M Wrecking brought down the school’s 1950’s era gym, above. In the below photo, the gym was reduced to a pile of brick and steel, leveled in a single day. Workers will now shift their focus to the auditorium on the west side of the high school. The work is part of a $35 million bond issue passed by Sulphur school district voters in April, 2022, to replace these decades’ old structures with new facilities and other enhancements around the school.
Sulphur City Council members convened into an approximately 45-minute executive session at Monday night’s meeting concerning “pending investigations, claims or legal actions of the 2015 IBC Building Codes adopted by the City of Sulphur on July 10, 2017 in reference to storm shelter requirements for education building construction.”
