Ancient People Of Murray County

Arbuckle Footnotes

I have been writing this Footnote column for eighteen years now and have tried to share with you the true feeling of living in Indian Territory. It was not like the movies at all. True, there were cowboys, Indians and outlaws. But, there were the everyday struggles just to find food and feel safe. Eating cornbread and squirrel three times a day may not have been pleasant but it was survival.

This article came to my attention recently and I thought you may like to know some of this information about the people who lived in Murray County 6,000 years ago. There are a lot of us who hunt arrowheads and artifacts in the area, so this article should interest you greatly.
