This week we have the Indian Pioneer Paper of Henry Tussey. This interview was recorded by WPA fieldworker Warren Morse on March 2, 1937 at Mr. Tussey’s residence in Tussey, Oklahoma.
The natural disaster caused by COVID-19 is unlike any other our nation has encountered in modern history. Its impact is severely felt across the whole of society – causing an unprecedented strain on our public health defenders and medical providers as well as sharp economic losses and unexpected disruptions for Americans of all stripes. Hardworking Americans, families, communities, small businesses and numerous industries have been hit hard and fast in a matter of days and weeks.
On Thursday, we observed a statewide Day of Prayer for those impacted by COVID-19. I’ve been so proud of the dedication of our healthcare workers, emergency responders and law enforcement who are risking their own health each day to help save those with the virus. Bless you all!
There were many men and women who played important roles in the development of this area including the old and new towns of Sulphur and the formation of the federal reservation that became Platt National Park.
