The Sulphur powerlifting team signals they’re number one after winning their fourth state title in March. Had the COVID-19 pandemic not shut down last year’s competition, the Dogs could possible have won their fifth title in a row. The Sulphur Lady Bulldogs rallied through the loser’s bracket last Friday in the regional meet to earn a ticket to this week’s state slowpitch softball tournament, beating Plainview for the title. The local girls made state the hard way after losing their first game to the Indians, then re-grouping and battling through the loser’s bracket and storming past Plainview for the title in the title game. Sulphur played Cushing in the first round of the state meet on Wednesday in a game played at the Ball Fields at Fire Lake in Shawnee after this newspaper’s deadline.
