Storybook Season Ends In Semis
Sulphur’s storybook season came to an end last Friday, as the Lady Dogs fell to Tishomingo in the state semifinals 5-1.
That loss came after the Lady Dogs got their first win in the state tournament in program history over Henryetta in the first round, beating the Knights 7-3.
Sulphur finished the season 30-10 and impressed everyone, especially after losing so much to graduation.
“Not many people outside that locker room expected us to be in the state semifinals, tied 1-1 in the 5th inning with a chance to go play for a state championship,” said Sulphur head coach Heath Gilbert. “When you graduate the talent we did last year, with four girls going to play in college, you are always a little worried about the next year.”
