McCall Appoints Agee To State’s Judicial Nominating Commission

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma House Speaker Charles McCall, R-Atoka, last week announced that he has appointed Cliff Agee of Sulphur, to serve as the House appointee to the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). The JNC is made up of 15 commissioners who serve without compensation. Nine of the 15 commissioners are non-lawyers, with six appointed by the governor, one by the Senate President Pro Tempore, one by the Speaker of the House and the final selected by the other members of the JNC. Six of the 15 commissioners are lawyers, one from each of the six congressional districts as they existed in 1967. The six lawyers are elected for six-year terms (staggered at two-year intervals) by members of the bar from their respective congressional districts.
