A riderless horse, signifying fallen soldiers, in photo at right, passes down the parade route during last Friday’s Sulphur Veterans Day Parade as the community honored veterans on Nov. 11.

Parade participants and spectators alike braved cold temperatures and light rain to honor veterans on that very special day.
Sulphur and Davis High School bands joined to lead the parade as both communities celebrated just hours apart with ceremonies.

Falling Into Winter

Fall turned into winter in a big way last Friday after the passage of a
strong cold front plunged temperatures down into the middle 20s over the
weekend, this area’s first major freeze. Some areas of the state received
up to six inches of snow on Monday, but it was mostly a cold rain here
with some sleet and flakes of snow.
Looking ahead, temps are expected to remain cool with highs into the
40s and low 50s, but another shot of cold air is forecast for Friday.
