As you know, I have spent my years at the Capitol working to help Oklahoma’s veterans and their families in numerous ways, including ensuring they get the care and benefits they rightfully deserve. This week, I have some exciting news to share with you. Recently, it was announced by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) that Oklahoma has reached a special milestone. Oklahoma is now number ONE among the 50 states for veterans, per capita, in receipt of federal benefits. This represents a $2.4 billion cash infusion into the Oklahoma economy.

As old as the story of mankind, is the story of man’s quest for quality tools. Probably the most primitive as well as modern tool of high esteem is a good dependable blade. In the last ten or so years it seems there has been a revival of sorts in the arena of hand crafted or bench made knives and cutting blades in general. We are blessed in Murray County to be home for the Jantz Supply, a custom knife making supply that is known worldwide for their quality service and product. This Saturday afternoon, March 5, Jantz will host a “Battle of the Blades” Cutting Competition at the Murray County Expo. Beginning at 2 pm Saturday, certified cutters from all over the United States will gather at the expo for national competition. Cornbread’s fish and The Wandering Pig BBQ will have food available for the event. Admission is free. For more information contact 1-800-351-8900 or knifemaking.com.
