James Junior Busby
James Junior Busby, better known by all as “Junior,” was born December 11, 1939, in Dougherty, to the late James C. “Jim” and Martha E. (McCray) Busby. He died on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Sulphur, at the age of 84. Junior and the late Patricia Ann “Pat” Barnett were united in marriage on September 4, 1959, in Davis. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2021.

OK Legislature Passes ‘Alyssa’s Law’ to Enhance School Security
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Legislature has taken a significant step toward ensuring the safety and security of students and staff in schools across the state with the passage of House Bill 4073, also known as “Alyssa’s Law.” This landmark legislation, authored by Rep. Kevin Wallace, R-Wellston, and Sen. Darrell Weaver, R-Moore, implements a mobile panic alert system in all school districts starting with the 2024-25 school year.

Candidates Gearing Up For June 18 Primary; Early Vote Times Set
Primary elections for federal, state, and county candidates are scheduled for June 18 across the state. On Election Day, the polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Early voting will be held Thursday, June 13 and Friday, June 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, June 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Murray County Election Board, located at 703 W. 11th St., Sulphur. A list of early voting locations and the election list are available on the State Election Board website. You can find your polling place using the OK Voter Portal.
