New PlatePay Cashless Tolling System Conversion Approved By Turnpike Board

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority board approved an agenda item at its Tuesday, July 26, meeting aimed at aiding in the conversion to PlatePay (cashless tolling). The routine vote gives the OTA access of up to $10.5 million in general funds toward the purchasing of hardware and miscellaneous tasks needed to continue converting Oklahoma’s remaining turnpikes to cashless tolling.

Oklahoma counties are showing a lot of red, as community levels of COVID risks rise substantially in a short time period. Murray County COVID-19 Risk Level Raised To ‘High’

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported Murray County’s COVID-19 Community Level as increasing from Medium to High as of July 28, 2022. The county joins much of Oklahoma’s counties listed as High community level as virus cases and hospitalizations continue to steadily rise.

School Starts Aug. 11, Enrollment Up

Paul Scroggins was recently hired as assistant Sulphur Elementary School principal and was on hand at the Sulphur Board of Education meeting Monday.

Enrollment is up at Sulphur Public Schools. In reports to the board of education at their regular monthly meeting Monday night, enrollment for the coming year is up more than 40 students district-wide from the previous year.
