Moore, OK – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04), a member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, became the longest serving Native American in the U.S. House of Representatives. The previous record was also held by an Oklahoman and member of the Chickasaw Nation, former Congressman Charles David Carter, who served in the House for a total of 7,048 days.
In a report released Friday, April 22, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced, “For the second year, COVID-19 was the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer.”

Local officials investigated a shooting incident last Sunday at the Dog Trade, a weekly flea market type exchange on the north side of Sulphur, just off U.S. 177. One man was shot in the hip and airlifted to an Oklahoma City hospital where he was admitted in stable condition, officials said.

Fire engulfs a home and several attached apartments last Thursday on West 12th Street in Sulphur. The structure was a total loss, according to Sulphur Fire Chief Pete Haines.
